This is the first of its kind at Georgetown, featuring an all Asian American cast and production crew, an original script, and original songs. Sexual Assault Awareness Month Programming
Each year, SAPE, together with Health Education Services and University co-sponsors, hosts programming for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) to engage the Georgetown community with the issue of sexual violence and uplift survivor voices on campus. Recognizing queer students are disproportionately impacted by instances of sexual violence and harassment, the theme for this year's programming will be The Intersection of Sexual Violence with Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation. "Ain't That the Truth?": Unveiling the Origins of Sojourner Truth's Famous Speech
Learn about the American Studies major via a conversation led by AMST majors on the complicated history of Sojourner Truth’s famous “Ain’t I A Woman” speech. We will ponder the construction of “truth” and history via Truth’s speech and ask questions about what the implications are of words other than her own, being the ones that we recite and remember today. Tax Workshop
Are you filing your own taxes this year? Have questions about how to maximize your refund? Want assistance from IRS-certified tax volunteers? Join Common $ense and Hoya Taxa for a FREE tax workshop on Sunday, April 2 at noon in ICC 118! Club members will present information on common tax topics and then answer any and all individual questions that attendees might have. Food will be provided too!
Japan Network (J-NET) Sakura Matsuri
J-NET will be hosting its first Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival) for the first time since the pandemic started! Come and enjoy FREE food (Takoyaki, shaved ice, tea, and other snacks), fun competition games (Kendama and chopsticks) with FREE prizes, FREE stickers (including J-NET sakura-themed ones), pins and goodie bags, a Kimono try-on booth, and an amazing performance by Vibe_, Georgetown's K-Pop/Urban dance group! On April 12th, Sexual Assault Peer Educators (SAPE) is hosting a keynote event with Marlee Liss, “Restorative Justice for Sexual Harm: Why I Fought for a Circle, Not a Courtroom.” The focus of this event is to inspire folks to imagine a vision of justice that is synonymous with healing through informative storytelling.
