 | Summer Snapshots
CSJ's summer community was small but mighty. We managed DC hosting America's 250 and an accompanying uptick in federal forces, very hot and humid weather, and the annual campus take-over by high school students. CSJ has hundreds of opportunities for Hoyas to get enaged in the University's mission for the common good this fall 2026. With dozens of programs and student organizations, locations across DC including several in walking distance from the Capitol Campus, over 200 Federal Work Study positions, and sites every day of the week from morning to evening, there is an opportunity for every Hoya to contribute to a more just and humane world as a member of an inclusive community.

Our annual Global Social Justice Research Symposium, hosted by the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching & Service (CSJ) and the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs will took place on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 9:00am ET – 1:00pm ET in the Healey Family Student Center Social Room on the Hilltop Campus. Guests will be able to attend in person or via Zoom.
Our student researchers will conduct compelling, timely, interdisciplinary research over summer 2026. Join us in supporting and learning from them. Address questions about this event to csjresearch@georgetown.edu.

The Hoya Hub serve the Georgetown University community of faculty, staff, and students who are facing food insecurity through 2 no-barrier food pantries - on the Hilltop and at the Capitol Campus.  Join GU's Delegation to the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice
Every year, the CSJ and Campus Ministry send a Hoya delegation to participate in the Ignatian Family Teach-in for Justice (IFTJ). The IFTJ is an annual gathering for 2,000+ members of the Ignatian family (Jesuit institutions and larger church) to come together in the context of social justice and solidarity to learn, reflect, pray, network, and advocate in a community that sees faith and justice integrally linked. The IFTJ is at the Crystal City Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA (very close to DC/GU) on Saturday, November 14, 2026 and Sunday, November 15, 2026. We are recruiting students from all faith backgrounds to represent GU's diversity in our Hoya delegation. To commit to being a member of GU's delegation, fill out this short form. CSJ has curated a series of workshops targed for our newest #HoyasForOthers and open for any member of the GU community. Each workshop spotlights a CSJ team member's expertise and a pillar of CSJ's work, including direct service engagement; educational equity; reflection; community; values; and our Jesuit mission. In Venezuela and Colombia, Jesuit schools, parishes, social centers, and the communities they accompany are recovering from consecutive earthquake disasters in June and August. With deep roots in these communities, Jesuit programs continue to accompany those in need and will remain long after the disasters have faded from the headlines. Join us in supporting the Jesuit emergency response to these devastating earthquakes. Hoyas from and with ties to Venezuela and Colombia will be tabling in Red Square on Wednesday, September 9 from 10:00am-4:00pm. Stop to talk with them about these beautiful countries they call home and donate to Jesuit relief efforts on the ground.

The “Just Breathe” sensory room is on the 5th floor of the Leavey Center. It is a small, calming space designed to support undergraduate and graduate students seeking a quiet environment to decompress or take a restorative break. The room features low, soothing lighting that creates a peaceful atmosphere. The space includes weighted lap pads, and a selection of fidget tools is available for students who benefit from tactile engagement. The environment is rounded out with gentle visual elements, such as soft-moving lights or calming visual displays. It is a place where students can pause, breathe, and reset during the demands of academic life. Use this link to reserve the space.
