Register for Teach the Speech on Friday, February 13, 2026! Join the CSJ as we center a text of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, we focus on Dr. King's Three Evils speech and will learn through reflections from five DC community leaders -- all GU Legacy of a Dream awardees: Khari Brown (Spark the Journey); Paula Fitzgerald (Ayuda); Paula Thompson (Voices for a Second Chance); Mary Brown (Life Pieces to Masterpieces); and Christopher Bradshaw (Dreaming Out Loud). The event includes a community gathering with lunch - RSVP so we can plan. CSJ FWS students can attend for work hours.

Congratulations to our 2026 Education and Social Justice Research Fellows! ESJ is a 15+ years collaboration between the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs and the Center for Social Justice, and now also with Mission & Ministry. The ESJ fellowship is 3 credits and the full calendar year; students conduct requested research with and for a Jesuit-affiliated organization. Check back with us later this semester to see where our fellows will go this summer!

Congratulations to our 2026 David Andretta Research Fellowship awardee, Yasmin Abdul Nasser (GU-Q'27)! Yasmin is a Ghanaian student in Qatar, majoring in International History and minoring in Africana Studies. As an Andretta fellow, Yasmin will research on kayayei, young female head porters from Northern Ghana, as she seeks to understand how regional inequality, gender, and migration shape their lived experiences and societal integration. Employing a mixed methods approach, Yasmin aims to uncover how structural inequalities including uneven development and gender norms shape their mobility and labor.

CSJ offers over 20 Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Populations trainings every semester. As a Hoya, you need to complete this 1.5 hour training one time during your four years, as a pre-requisite for participating in any CSJ program that engages directly with community partners. The introductory training for CSJ programs includes information about campus and online resources for reporting, as well as University and District of Columbia requirements. RSVP through Campus Groups.
