Hypothermia Outreach Team - Ad Hoc Volunteer Training Session

The severe weather in winter makes homelessness more immediately life-threatening, especially during hypothermia season (from November 1 through March 31). Every winter, Washington, DC city government agencies, faith communities, and nonprofit organizations provide emergency services to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Join the Center for Social Justice to participate in the Hypothermia Outreach Team (HOT) on cold winter nights. 

HOT volunteers meet at CSJ to prepare supplies and conduct outreach to assess the needs of those who may be sleeping outside in unsafe conditions. Teams help prevent injury and death from exposure and contacting emergency services when necessary. HOT volunteers are dispatched on an ad hoc basis, so trained volunteers are welcome to participate whenever they are available. This is an essential way for us to care for our neighbors in need. No previous experience or specialized skills are required.
