Overview

The first GUCS lab will introduce participants to foundational networking concepts and hands-on packet analysis using Wireshark. The goal is to help attendees understand the OSI model, HTTP packet structure, and basic networking protocols through guided instruction and an interactive CTF-style challenge.

Discover how the Department of Defense is rethinking cyber readiness as near-peer adversaries raise the stakes in cyberspace. This session dives into cyber survivability — the ability of mission-critical systems to continue operating even after they’ve been hit by cyber disruptions.

MITRE – Entry-Level Cybersecurity Engineering or Information Security

Hybrid | Full-Time

MITRE is hiring early-career cyber professionals for roles in threat intel, adversary emulation, OT security, cyber ops, and secure systems engineering. Applicants join a talent pool for multiple openings.

Who can apply: Current students/recent grads in cyber or related fields.
Nice-to-have: Experience with Wireshark, Splunk, ELK, programming, or prior internships.
Salary: $83K–$125K

Virtual – Free | Registration closes Dec. 1

Test your skills at the Mountain West Cyber Challenge 2025, a 7-hour online Capture the Flag competition hosted on Deloitte’s Hackazon platform. College teams of up to four will tackle 400+ challenges, compete for cash prizes, and earn a challenge coin for participating. Space is limited and first-come, first-served.

8th Annual Border Security Symposium – Free for Govt employees

Join Homeland Security & Defense Forum (HSDF) at the Ronald Reagan Building for an afternoon of discussions with leaders from DHS, CBP, ICE, DoD, and Congress on the future of U.S. border security. Topics include AI-driven surveillance, checkpoint modernization, counter-UAS, and next-gen trade inspection tech.
