The Georgetown University Cybersecurity Society (GUCS) invites you to attend:
Launching Your Cybersecurity Career
A Professional Development Session with Peter Mao
Friday, February 20th | Capitol Campus Room LL301 | 1:30 – 2:30 PM

Peter was not originally in cybersecurity but successfully transitioned into the field through dedication, continuous learning, and a passion for problem-solving—demonstrating that there is no single path into this profession.
In this interactive session, Peter will explore the different career paths within cybersecurity and how students can strategically prepare to enter the field after graduation. He will discuss what to focus on beyond coursework, how to build real-world experience, and practical ways to stand out in a competitive job market.
Peter will also share what he does on a day-to-day basis as a cybersecurity analyst, providing a realistic look at the role and the skills that matter most. Throughout the session, attendees will participate in sample interview and security exam-style questions to simulate real-world scenarios and test their readiness.
The session will conclude with an open Q&A.
Whether you’re just starting your journey or preparing to take the next step, this is a session you won’t want to miss.
