BMDT is a faculty-directed, academic for-credit class. This contemporary modern dance theatre company was founded over 25 years ago by African American women with an artistic vision and passion to express the African American experience through dance. Our company strives to help dancers from all walks of life to express their experiences through dance.

We, the Black Theatre Ensemble, appreciate the theatrical, performative, and technical talents of artists devoted to portraying and enriching the Black cultural heritage throughout the dramatic arts. The students of Georgetown University recognize the need for exposure to and more appreciation of the Black dramatic cultural heritage. Therefore, it is the intention of the G.U. Black Theatre Ensemble to produce works of Black artists and/or works relating to the experiences of the Black community. Above all, we seek to provide a voice for all communities traditionally underrepresented in the performative arts. Although we offer unique opportunities for minority students, namely students of color, to become involved in theater, we welcome the input, interest, and involvement of the entire Georgetown community.

Mission
The Georgetown Improv Association is a student-run improvisational troupe of
the Georgetown University community. Its mission is to promote long-form improvisation as an
art form, to develop other areas of comedic performance, and to provide frequent and affordable
performances to the greater Georgetown public. The Troupe aims to uncover humor by finding
truth and in doing so seeks full artistic freedom. The Troupe does not discriminate on the basis
of sex, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

Georgetown Superfood was founded in 1995 and has since become Georgetown’s standard for inventive a-cappella. By revamping old classics and creating unique arrangements of songs not often heard a-capella, Superfood leaves no room to doubt its creative musicality. With a repertoire that includes Rihanna, Hozier, Fleetwood Mac, Earth Wind and Fire, and Stevie Wonder, the group has also wholeheartedly embraced a range of genres with the hopes of refreshing audiences for years to come.

GU Children's Theater is dedicated to the fulfillment of the following three missions:

• Entertaining and educating DC-Area youth, through performances at area schools, hospitals, and other community venues.
• Helping DC-Area youth to develop self-confidence and an appreciation for the arts through such activities as educational workshops at area schools, hospitals, and other community venues.
• Fostering the development of new plays by Georgetown students through writers workshops, with a particular focus on works for children.

The efforts of GU Children's Theater will always be directed towards the provision of high quality entertainment and education.

GUDC, the oldest dance organization on campus, is a pre-professional concert repertory dance company that performs diverse works in classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and tap. Composed of 15-20 members, the Company focuses on commitment to excellence in training through technique classes and performances, as well as helping the Georgetown and greater DC community through their outreach program. The Company also creates original choreography that is showcased in a fall works-in-progress performance and spring full-production performance. The works within each concert are created by student choreographers, the Faculty Artistic Director, and guest artists chosen by the ensemble. The Company is a self-presenting institution, responsible for all aspects of presentation from pre-production, publicity, and administrative work, to the delivery of a final artistic product on the stage. The dancers of the company are at an intermediate/advanced level and meet at least twice a week for a minimum of three hours for technique classes, which all members are required to attend.

The Company's program is performance-oriented; however, we additionally work to attain other long-term goals. We promote dance on campus and expose the student body to various dance styles and trends. We serve the university community by exposing it to the creativity found in dance through interacting via master classes and performance and through exchanging ideas regarding dance with the local community.

Because GUDC receives academic credit, all its programs conform with the academic standards and abide by all policies of the university. The Faculty Artistic Director also conducts all course and related work with the same level of authority as any other academic course.

The Georgetown University Pep Band is an organization of Georgetown students dedicated to supporting Georgetown Athletics & University events through musical performance. Founded in 1922 as both an ROTC (which became the Pep Band) and a Concert Band (which became the Concert Winds and then the Wind Ensemble). Members support the arts by sharing their enjoyment of music with audiences and fans alike at athletic events, official and unofficial university events and functions, and occasionally at non-university, off-campus events.

The mission of Lombardi Ensemble Association for Patients (LEAP) is to create a therapeutic environment for Lombardi Cancer Center patients, families, and hospital staff through musical performances. Our volunteer organization consists of musicians who strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment for the patients while growing together as students in musical creativity and ability. The organization will select music in collaboration with the Lombardi Cancer Center administration to ensure that the performances are enjoyable for the entire community. Students will have the unique opportunity to expand their individual repertoire by exploring different genres of music, ranging from classical and jazz to modern pop, with their fellow members.

Mask and Bauble Dramatic Society is the oldest continuously running student theatre group in the country, currently celebrating our 174th season. Mask and Bauble (M&B) is dedicated to creating quality theatre through a tradition of student-to-student mentorship. We are Georgetown University's first and only all-womxn's a cappella group! We've been singing together since 1980 throughout the District of Columbia and the Georgetown community.

The GraceNotes co-host the D.C. A Cappella Festival (DCAF), one of the region's most exciting a cappella shows. Taking place over two weekends in November, DCAF showcases some of the best a cappella talent on the east coast, inviting groups from universities all along the Atlantic to share their music in Georgetown's famous Gaston Hall.

Recent highlights have included performances at the White House, Vice President's Residence, Kennedy Center, Pentagon, for the Chinese Ambassador, for H.E., Kofi Annan, and a performance at Georgetown's campus in Doha, Qatar. The GraceNotes sing a range of music from rock to oldies and modern pop. Our latest album, State of Grace, was released in Fall 2013!

The Georgetown Phantoms were founded in 1988 as an outlet for students to arrange and perform all varieties of a cappella music for all vocal ranges. Recognizing the unique and legitimate style of mixed-voice a cappella music, the founders felt there was a need for an arts group at Georgetown which would specialize in this type of performance. As Georgetown University's premier co-ed a cappella group, the Phantoms sing pop, rock, and R&B from a variety of artists at both on and off campus events and are committed to delivering the highest level of performance to spread music and culture.

The Georgetown Saxatones have been building a musical community in the Washington D.C. area since their founding in 2003. Originally established as a co-ed "oldies" group, the Saxatones harnessed the joy of classic songs to entertain and support charities in the Georgetown area. Since then, we have not only diversified our musical repertoire to include today's greatest hits, but we have also extended our reach nationwide, raising funds for charities across the country. Each member of our family has a passion for music and often a personal connection with the organizations we serve.

The Georgetown University World Percussion Ensemble exists to support the performance of percussive music on the University's campus and to educate both members of the ensemble and the Georgetown community at large about this unique musical niche. According to the interests of members, WPE's repertoire varies by semester but always draws from around the world — from traditional North American percussion literature to Afro-Cuban, Latin, African, Eastern, and European styles. Members hone their technical and improvisational skills under the skillful eye of Professor David Murray as they perform both written pieces and original ones that they have composed. WPE appears at many on-campus events and performs one concert per semester. Members of all musical skill levels are completely welcome, though students with previous musical or percussive experience are preferred.
