Mission
CMEA enhances the education of students historically denied access to GU because of race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, and other marginalized identities. To live out this mission, CMEA provides a variety of intentional and culturally-relevant programming, services, and opportunities to foster student success inside and outside of the classroom.

We actively promote unfettered access towards educational attainment and social prosperity for our diverse populations. At Georgetown, our learning communities thrive as a result of our commitments to equity, inclusion, social justice, and civic engagement. We stand committed to nurturing all aspects of students' development while engaging in difficult and challenging conversations and in thoughtful and intentional ways. We denounce all instances of racism, discrimination, oppression, and bigotry. In keeping with our Jesuit identity, we challenge the university to fulfill its commitment to care for the whole person and prioritize justice for the common good. We acknowledge in both words and actions the realities of the numerous tensions that our communities face daily and advocate to challenge the systems that work to oppress them and their growth.

Each spring, the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) hosts Hoya Saxa Weekend in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Hoya Saxa Weekend is a chance for underrepresented students of color to experience campus life, meet current students, and have important questions answered before making their college decision. CMEA is excited to bring potential Georgetown students of color to campus in a celebration of what the University has to offer.

Hoya Saxa Weekend is also run in conjunction with the Georgetown Admissions Amabassador Program (GAAP).

Mission
The Community Scholars Program (CSP) has led Georgetown's efforts to promote social justice for 50 years by enrolling a more racially and socioeconomically diverse student body. Managed by the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA), the program provides enhanced educational opportunities for a multicultural cohort of first-generation college students who have achieved the dream of higher education through personal initiative, service, and academic excellence.

The Community Scholars experience begins with a five-week academic summer program prior to the student's first year at Georgetown designed to aid their transition to higher education. During the summer they take classes for credit, attend orientation workshops, and begin forming bonds with one another, teachers, and administrators that will help sustain them through college. The program supports its students throughout their Georgetown careers with academic advising, mentoring and personal counseling, study groups, workshops, and seminars. With a 92% graduation rate, CSP provides a diverse support network with proven results.
