Our mission is to encourage and empower Georgetown students to give back to the Hilltop. The After School Kids (ASK) Program serves at-potential teens in the DC metropolitan area who are making positive strides in their lives and to be catalysts for change in their community. Our youth are adversely impacted by the cradle-to-prison pipeline and may experience obstacles to obtaining their high school diploma, exploring careers, or advancing their postsecondary education. It is not uncommon for our youth to experience chronic trauma exposure, involvement in the court system, and to be over-aged and under-credited. Despite obstacles, our youth envision a brighter future through education, social action, and wellness. ASK provides programming and support to help them realize their vision.

The purposes of the ACLU of GULC are:

1. To advance discussion of civil liberties on campus.
2. To advocate respect thereof at all levels of government.
3. To support the local chapters of the ACLU however possible.

We defend and promote the protections encompassed in the Bill of Rights of the Federal Constitution, as well as all other rights that protect inhabitants of this country from unnecessarily unjust or invasive government action.

For more than seventy years, the Barristers' Council has been providing students at Georgetown University Law Center with opportunities to hone their advocacy skills. Students who are interested in joining the Council do so through the Appellate Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, and ADR Advocacy divisions, which sponsor a number of intrascholastic competitions every year. Students chosen to join Barristers' Council begin intensive training to represent Georgetown Law at national and international advocacy competitions.

Beyond A Reasonable Stout (BARS) is the only craft beer tasting club at Georgetown Law University Center (GULC). We have historically hosted approximately six free tastings and co-hosted a variety of other events with various student organizations over the course of the year to students of all years, including evening students and LLMs.

Our mission is to provide the following:

(1) A welcoming and informative space. At BARS events, attendees can familiarize themselves with a selection of craft, local, and independent beers. We provide tasting notes and resources to students so that they may be able to develop a sophisticated and worldly palate. Craft beer has increasingly become a part of the young professional culture, and we believe some degree of knowledge and sophistication is personally and professionally beneficial.

(2) A relaxed setting. BARS events provide attendees with the opportunity to meet students outside of the classroom, including evening students and LLMs (every semester we have a substantial minority of LLM attendance at our tastings). We are dedicated to making sure that Georgetown Law students maintain a healthy mental wellbeing by socializing with the greater GULC community. Bringing together diverse students is essential to (a) establishing strong interpersonal connections, (b) allowing 1Ls to seek advice and mentorship from upperclassmen in an informal and stress-free environment, and (c) building a stronger Georgetown Law community.

(3) A safe environment. We are committed to making sure that all attending students (a) are, and feel at all times, safe and within the confines of a familiar on-campus location benefiting from the protective services of the school, (b) are given alcohol in a controlled and responsible environment, and (c) have access to an active community upon which they can rely to ensure and support their safety and wellbeing. We know that students will face extensive exposure to alcohol throughout their studies and careers, and believe fostering a healthy relationship with alcohol, and a peer support system, is a positive step in preventing substance abuse problems.

Bossier is a magazine at Georgetown that is dedicated to creating a publication that provides space for people with marginalized gender identities and their allies on campus and across the globe.

We are here to...
1. Fill a niche at Georgetown. There are plenty of wonderful organizations on campus that help women in the professional sphere, which is necessary and important. What's missing is a publication focused on the empowerment of women through the sharing of their personal experiences and creative work. We think it is vital for women on campus to have a female-driven space to share their writing and art.
2. Be a prominent submission-based publication on campus. Currently, few publications on campus publish curated content in a print format twice a year. The beauty of a submission-based magazine is that it will intentionally include voices from different communities across Georgetown, which is important to Bossier.
3. Create discussion. Bossier is dedicated to sharing opinions of people of all races, genders, sexualities, and geographic backgrounds.
4. Build a community. Bossier is about women helping women, intersectionality, and inclusion. We want to create a supportive space to talk about important things, make college a little less scary, and have a good time doing it.

The Multicultural Graduations are part of the official Georgetown University commencement schedule and are a way to bring students of color together for a final ceremony before graduation. Upon attending, each student will be honored with a stole. There are three ceremonies:

Asian Heritage celebrates the achievements of our Asian American and Pacific Islander graduates and allies of the Georgetown University AAPI community. It aims to recognize the achievements of the graduates, and celebrate the cultures and legacies that shaped their journeys here at the Hilltop.

Harambee is an annual ceremony dedicated to recognizing graduating seniors who identify with communities of the African Diaspora. This ceremony collectively celebrates the individual achievements of students in obtaining college diplomas and honors the community and legacy Black graduating students have created and actively cultivated here at Georgetown.

Despedida is an annual ceremony dedicated to celebrating the cultural diversity and history of the Latinx community and Chicanas/Chicanos at Georgetown University. The Black House is the oldest affinity residence on Georgetown's campus. The Black House is a central hub for assessing and meeting the needs of Black students and the larger population of students of color by implementing programs, events, and dialogue in a community-centered space. the Black House remains one of the few dedicated places on campus where all students of color can gather to talk about issues, and meet one another. Black House residents are encouraged to design programs to promote, foster and acknowledge diversity and community on campus.

The Advisory Board for Student Organizations (ABSO) is an advisory and funding board of the Center for Social Justice that works to support the missions of student organizations under the CSJ's purview. The board is composed of 10-14 students, and 2 faculty or staff members. ABSO oversees, facilitates, and provides resources to student-run social justice service activities, student advocacy, and community involvement activities at Georgetown. ABSO is responsible for advising student organization leaders on programming and budgeting, and serves as a resource for understanding university policy. The Georgetown University Social Innovation and Public Service (SIPS) Fund is a $1.5 million student-run fund that allocates approximately $60,000 in award money every year to help students and alumni start their own social ventures. The mission of SIPS grows out of the Jesuit tradition of service to others.

Some of the past projects funded by SIPS include funding the Alternative Break Program (ABP), creating a book that offers representation for chronically hospitalized children, and backing a startup which decreased food waste by sustainably creating cold-pressed juices. Through its Summer Scholars program, SIPS has also financed proposals which have done important work such as improving cooking practices in Rwanda by bringing stoves to communities and tracking their usage, introducing a community garden in N.E. DC, and holding a theater workshop in France to help facilitate dialogue between French and refugee people living in Paris. DC Schools Project (DCSP) is a tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy program that engages Georgetown students as volunteer and Federal Work Study (FWS)-funded tutors to provide English language tutoring and support for youth and adults of immigrant backgrounds in Washington, DC. The program was established in 1984 in response to the quadrupling of the language minority population in the DC public schools, as a result of the drastic increase in the immigrant population due to the civil war in El Salvador. The program seeks to improve the literacy skills and academic performance to ultimately increase the ability of the youth and adults to fully participate in the cultural, civic, educational, and economic life in US society. Fifteen student coordinators lead DCSP through which approximately 150 Georgetown students a semester have weekly commitments to one of its seven programs.

Georgetown's Department of Performing Arts (DPA) integrates creative and critical inquiry, emphasizing artistic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, socially engaged performance, and the spirit of collaboration. The department is home to the College's undergraduate degree programs in American Musical Culture and Theater & Performance Studies with dozens of performing groups in all aspects of the performing arts (music, theater, dance and film). We administer a wide range of activities—from teaching critical and creative courses to scheduling the use of practice rooms and mentoring participation in student organizations. DPA also sponsors the professional Friday Music concert series in McNeir Hall and hosts a full season of Theater in the state-of-the-art Davis Performing Arts Center.

The Music Program at Georgetown is distinctive for its emphasis on the study of the performing arts as both a creative activity within contemporary society and a cultural manifestation of multiculturalism in the American World. The program offers courses in music history, criticism, theory, recording arts, film, social justice and performance. We specialize in all forms of music associated with American Culture, including: jazz, rock, dance, film, popular musics from around the world, and music stemming from the Western European Tradition. Through this broad range of course offerings and numerous opportunities for community-building music performing activities the Music Program clearly reflects the intellectual, multicultural and international character of the liberal arts as Georgetown.

The Theater & Performance Studies Program at Georgetown has attracted significant attention for its unique curriculum (reflecting the political and international character of Georgetown), its commitment to social justice, its focus on adapting, devising and developing new work, and its cutting-edge student productions. ESCAPE is a first-year transition and reflection program designed to create a space for students to get to know their classmates and engage in conversation about the journey of college. Small groups, led by upper class mentors, foster a sense of meaning and belonging throughout the retreat as well as the rest of your Georgetown career.

The retreat is designed as an escape from the Hilltop. ESCAPE is accessible to people of all religious and non-religious backgrounds and reflection is a central part of the retreat experience. There will be talks from upper class team leaders and a faculty or staff member, followed by individual and small group reflection. Students reflect on the person they were before they became Georgetown students and who they want to be as members of the Georgetown community and beyond. FGI x Georgetown proactively addresses economic inequality by working with high school students from underserved areas of D.C. Throughout an eight-week financial literacy curriculum, FGI's tutors ensure students master paramount financial concepts such as stocks, bonds, credit, interest, and more. At the end of the eight-week curriculum, candidates receive a $100 portfolio to their name. It has become increasingly clear that there is a vacuum with regards to the resources that are readily available to Georgetown students who are interested in a career in tech. While the infrastructure for those interested in finance or consulting is well-established, GDT aims to provide that same infrastructure for those looking to work in tech. With this initiative, GDT aims to bring together a diverse group of individuals with separate interests but united under the broader technology sphere. We want to place as great an emphasis on the policy issues and regulatory challenges associated with emerging technologies as on understanding these technologies themselves. The GGAIS was established for the purpose of bringing together emerging Georgetown scholars in the field of Islamic Studies from different disciplines and thus creating a space for interdisciplinary exchange, research and dialogue. The Georgetown Green Campus Alliance (GGCA) is dedicated to promoting sustainable, environmentally-friendly initiatives on the Georgetown Law campus. GGCA seeks to educate and mobilize students of Georgetown Law to maximize the presence of usable green space on-campus and create community through two starter initiatives: 1) Campus Garden Initiative, and 2) Gewirz Compost Project. The Campus Garden Initiative offers students and community members a place to learn about organic food systems, providing service opportunities in sustainable gardening, food distribution, and community outreach. The Gewirz Compost Project seeks to promote sustainable waste practices through the installment of a composting program at the Gewirz Student Center. Through these initiatives, as well as our panel events, our hope is to raise awareness through education and promote advocacy.

The Georgetown Law Softball Club (The Softball Club) is a student-led group with nearly 100 members that get together to play softball and engage in recreation outside of the classroom at the Georgetown University Law Center. The Softball Club welcomes students of all ability-levels taking courses at Georgetown Law including full-time JD, part-time JD, LLM, and graduate level students. Its mission is to provide a community to all of its members.

The Softball Club provides a valuable opportunity for students to decompress and meet fellow students outside of the academic setting. The Softball Club also equips students with experiences and skills that will help them feel comfortable participating in softball outings with their future employers. Softball is common among law firms, government agencies, non-profits, and even chambers, and can help students build relationships with their co-workers that go beyond the office.

Georgetown Entertainment and Media Alliance, Law Division (GEMALaw) exists to bring entertainment, media, sports, and new technology law information and speakers to the Georgetown Law community. The entertainment sphere is an exciting and rapidly growing legal field constantly transformed by new technology and advancements. While many are familiar with film, tv, music, sports, and video games from the layman perspective, the legal careers they represent are often unknown and confusing for law students. GEMALaw exists to teach students about this field and introduce them to practitioners. Through our annual Spring GEMA Symposium, as well as monthly speaker events and panels, GEMA hopes students will be able to learn more about the legal issues surrounding this exciting industry. Entertainment law intersects many other areas of the law from intellectual property and free speech concerns to the right of publicity, information privacy, employment and labor law, and more.
Symposium topics cover hot button issues of the day and have included in the past the Music Modernization Act, compensation of NCAA collegiate athletes, facial recognition and data privacy, and working with producers and talent in the music industry. While students are able to learn some of these topics in the classroom, GEMA brings concrete career path information, as well as our widespread alumni network, directly to the Law Center in order to increase engagement and interest in this exciting workspace. By counseling 1Ls and those looking for work in the industry, we hope to help law students become more comfortable with the terminology and business models of the entertainment law world. We aim to open up the diverse array of in-house careers within the Entertainment framework to our members. Additionally, we hope to educate and excite students looking to learn more about the area while building a community of those with like-minded interests who want to explore what entertainment law has to offer.

Georgetown Renewable Energy and Environmental Network (GREEN) is the largest environmental student organization at Georgetown. We strive to promote the conservation, protection, and preservation of the environment through education, advocacy, volunteer work, and on-campus programs that engage students in being women and men for others and for the environment. Our goal is to create positive environmental impacts through active participation, so to benefit both Georgetown University and the community at large. We plan to achieve these goals by: promoting a clear understanding of humanity's dependence on and responsibilities to its environment; working to directly improve the environment through volunteer work; providing a forum for students interested in actively pursuing environmental goals; and encouraging advocacy through communication with our representatives via a series of venues. From killer mashups to dubstep beatboxing, Superfood has become Georgetown's standard for bold a cappella, and many have taken note. Within the last few years, Superfood has released TWO studio albums, sung for the Georgetown Wall Street Alliance in New York City, sung the national anthem for thousands of basketball fans at the Verizon Center, and even last year helped a man propose to his boyfriend (he said yes!!!). On top of all of that, Superfood is now an award-winning group, having received Best Soloist (Allie Canal), Vocal Percussion (Shom Mazumder and Austin Lee), Best Arrangement (Ryan Sudo) as well as first and second place in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Mid-Atlantic Quarter Final competition!

Of course, Superfood's members are great friends who, through a shared passion for music, love to have a good time. Sit in on a practice, and you'll hear as just as much laughter as you do singing. That's because when it comes down to it, Superfood really is a family… a family that also happens to make amaaaaazing music together.

The Georgetown University Armed Forces Association works to foster a greater sense of community among Georgetown ROTC cadets, the Georgetown military community, and the Georgetown student body. Additionally, GUAFA works to introduce students to military culture and challenge assumptions and/or stereotypes students may have in regards to the military. To accomplish this, GUAFA invites students to Army ROTC morning workouts, encourages members to participate in various GUAFA service events, and brings in unique speakers with military experience via our connection to the Hoya Battalion. GUAFA also serves as a support structure for any student who would like to serve in the armed forces, especially if they would like to serve through ROTC or Officer Candidate School. For those who consider the military a possible career path, GUAFA offers one-on-one mentorship to answer any questions students may have about a military career and help them through the joining process. GUAFA is open to all students with an appreciation for public service or service in any capacity so that its members can actively promote Georgetown's Jesuit Values in conjunction with the Army values for Hoyas past, present, and future.

The Georgetown University Astronomical Society (GUAS) meets weekly in the Heyden Observatory (founded in the 1841) on campus. GUAS educates the Georgetown community on matters of astronomy and the night sky and brings in speakers working in space-related industries on the scientific side (i.e. professors and NASA researchers), policy side (i.e. Office of Commercial Space Transportation), and commercial side (i.e. SpaceX). GUAS has an extensive alumni network, and is open-membership.

The Georgetown University Creative Writing Club is focused on giving Georgetown writers space to share their work, receive feedback, and meet fellow writers on campus. There's no application process, no attendance or submission requirements, and no required skill levels--no catch. We are open to all writers of all genres and all backgrounds. We host weekly writing workshops where members give feedback on submitted pieces and write off of a variety of prompts, where writers are invited to work on their creative projects with friendly creative types.

GUDC, the oldest dance organization on campus, is a pre-professional concert repertory dance company that performs diverse works in classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and tap. Composed of 15-20 members, the Company focuses on commitment to excellence in training through technique classes and performances, as well as helping the Georgetown and greater DC community through their outreach program. The Company also creates original choreography that is showcased in a fall works-in-progress performance and spring full-production performance. The works within each concert are created by student choreographers, the Faculty Artistic Director, and guest artists chosen by the ensemble. The Company is a self-presenting institution, responsible for all aspects of presentation from pre-production, publicity, and administrative work, to the delivery of a final artistic product on the stage. The dancers of the company are at an intermediate/advanced level and meet at least twice a week for a minimum of three hours for technique classes, which all members are required to attend.

The Company's program is performance-oriented; however, we additionally work to attain other long-term goals. We promote dance on campus and expose the student body to various dance styles and trends. We serve the university community by exposing it to the creativity found in dance through interacting via master classes and performance and through exchanging ideas regarding dance with the local community.

Because GUDC receives academic credit, all its programs conform with the academic standards and abide by all policies of the university. The Faculty Artistic Director also conducts all course and related work with the same level of authority as any other academic course.

Founded in 2008, Georgetown Equestrian is now in its 16th year of IHSA competition in Zone 4, Region 1. We take weekly hunt seat lessons at The Other Left in Burtonsville, Maryland. The team consists of approximately 10 to 15 riders a semester, from walk-trot levels to open jumpers. There are numerous shows a semester, and riders compete to qualify for Regional, Zone, and National Finals. The Georgetown University Hellenic Association brings together students of various backgrounds; some are international students from Greece, some are Greek-American, some are not ethnically Greek, some speak Greek, some do not - the one thing all Hellenic Association members have in common is a love of Greece and all things Greek!
Some of our past events have included lectures by prominent Greek-American professionals, Easter lamb roasts, traditional folk dance performances, Greek language coffee chats, community service projects, and cultural dinners.
