The After School Kids (ASK) Program serves at-potential teens in the DC metropolitan area who are making positive strides in their lives and to be catalysts for change in their community. Our youth are adversely impacted by the cradle-to-prison pipeline and may experience obstacles to obtaining their high school diploma, exploring careers, or advancing their postsecondary education. It is not uncommon for our youth to experience chronic trauma exposure, involvement in the court system, and to be over-aged and under-credited. Despite obstacles, our youth envision a brighter future through education, social action, and wellness. ASK provides programming and support to help them realize their vision.

The Georgetown College Academic Council is comprised of elected representatives from each class who foster a working relationship between administration, students, and faculty in order to help students manage and enhance their academic lives. The Council interacts with College faculty and administration regarding a wide variety of issues. The College Academic Council represents the students of Georgetown College, seeks their opinion on academic issues, and acts in their name. It has helped to develop stronger student-professor relations through the Majors Mentors Network, Dean-Student lunches, the annual College Honors, and the College Majors Fair. DC Schools Project (DCSP) is a tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy program that engages Georgetown students as volunteer and Federal Work Study (FWS)-funded tutors to provide English language tutoring and support for youth and adults of immigrant backgrounds in Washington, DC. The program was established in 1984 in response to the quadrupling of the language minority population in the DC public schools, as a result of the drastic increase in the immigrant population due to the civil war in El Salvador. The program seeks to improve the literacy skills and academic performance to ultimately increase the ability of the youth and adults to fully participate in the cultural, civic, educational, and economic life in US society. Fifteen student coordinators lead DCSP through which approximately 150 Georgetown students a semester have weekly commitments to one of its seven programs.

First-Year Orientation to Community Involvement (FOCI) is an intensive pre-orientation program for incoming first-year and transfer students. FOCI serves as an introduction to community service, activism, and social justice issues in Washington, DC. FOCI participants actively engage in community service; discover and reflect on the diverse populations, perspectives, and roles that exist in the Georgetown and greater DC communities; develop leadership skills; and become part of a community committed to personal growth through service and reflection. FOCI activities address a wide variety of social justice issues, including education, sustainability, gentrification, immigration, LGBTQ access, and hunger and homelessness. The Georgetown University Armed Forces Association works to foster a greater sense of community among Georgetown ROTC cadets, the Georgetown military community, and the Georgetown student body. Additionally, GUAFA works to introduce students to military culture and challenge assumptions and/or stereotypes students may have in regards to the military. To accomplish this, GUAFA invites students to Army ROTC morning workouts, encourages members to participate in various GUAFA service events, and brings in unique speakers with military experience via our connection to the Hoya Battalion. GUAFA also serves as a support structure for any student who would like to serve in the armed forces, especially if they would like to serve through ROTC or Officer Candidate School. For those who consider the military a possible career path, GUAFA offers one-on-one mentorship to answer any questions students may have about a military career and help them through the joining process. GUAFA is open to all students with an appreciation for public service or service in any capacity so that its members can actively promote Georgetown's Jesuit Values in conjunction with the Army values for Hoyas past, present, and future.

GUGAMS is a neutral, apolitical, lay, and inclusive organization, which objective is to serve the Mexican graduate community at Georgetown by:

Duties and Responsibilities include:
A. To support the growth and development of campus media.

C. To implement advertising standards and guidelines.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that works with underserved preschool children in schools and community centers. Jumpstart Corps Members (CMs) implement enrichment programming aimed at building the language, literacy, and socio-emotional skills that preschool children need to be ready for kindergarten. Jumpstart members commit 8-12 hours weekly of teaching, preparation, and planning and can be eligible to earn AmeriCorps Segal Awards upon completion of 300 hours with the program.

Together, Georgetown University's Office of Government Relations and Community Engagement (GRACE), Office of Student Employment, and Center for Social Justice announce a pilot program through which Federal Work Study (FWS)-eligible Georgetown University undergraduate students can intern with DC-based community organizations whose leaders have been recognized by the University's annual John Thompson, Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award.

When supporting a Legacy of a Dream (LoaD) Awardee Organization, LoaD Interns use their skills, time, energy, and capacities to support organization as needed and requested. While actual duties vary with each agency placement, the goal is for each Hoya to contribute to the agency's capacity with their contributions, support, and learning. LoaD interns are expected to be excellent representatives to Georgetown's commitment to social justice and follow all Student Conduct policies, both on and off campus. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Resource Center provides education, programming, support services, and voice to Georgetown students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We are committed to understanding sexual orientation and gender identity in the context of and as it intersects with race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, ability, socio-economic status, and culture. Support in navigating academic and student life: Staff are available to talk with students about anything and everything. We can connect you with resources, or help you think through topics like what you want to major in, how things are going with your roommates, whether you want to study abroad, how to navigate conflict with a friend, and all of the other things that come with student life.
Student Engagement and Leadership Development: We offer programs that help students cultivate and develop their leadership skills and unique strengths. These include lectures, discussions, and retreats. Our student staff are ambassadors of the LGBTQ Center. They lead their peers in conversation and events.

Health and Wellness: We work individually with students to help students address challenges and flourish at Georgetown. As a semi-confidential Title IX reporting space, we also help students in crisis situations. A semi-confidential space means that son-identifying information about an incident of sexual assault will be shared with a Title IX Coordinator; you will not be contacted by a Title IX Coordinator. Additionally, we are here to help you navigate the University Bias Reporting system for incidents inside and outside of the classroom. We can connect you with resources on and off-campus.

Advocacy and Empowerment: We challenge oppressive ideologies and encourage a holistic approach to community building and education.

The Multicultural Graduations are part of the official Georgetown University commencement schedule and are a way to bring students of color together for a final ceremony before graduation. Upon attending, each student will be honored with a stole. There are three ceremonies:

Asian Heritage celebrates the achievements of our Asian American and Pacific Islander graduates and allies of the Georgetown University AAPI community. It aims to recognize the achievements of the graduates, and celebrate the cultures and legacies that shaped their journeys here at the Hilltop.

Harambee is an annual ceremony dedicated to recognizing graduating seniors who identify with communities of the African Diaspora. This ceremony collectively celebrates the individual achievements of students in obtaining college diplomas and honors the community and legacy Black graduating students have created and actively cultivated here at Georgetown.

Despedida is an annual ceremony dedicated to celebrating the cultural diversity and history of the Latinx community and Chicanas/Chicanos at Georgetown University. The SFSAC is the elected representative organization of the SFS undergraduate population. As advocates for the SFS student body, the SFSAC collaborates with the Dean's Office, the Georgetown University Student Association, and the other academic councils to address issues pertaining to academic affairs, the student body in the SFS, and other initiatives developed to enhance the undergraduate experience. Additionally, the SFSAC enjoys membership on the SFS Curriculum Committee and the Georgetown University Inter-School Academic Council.

The committees of the SFSAC include Special Events, Communications, Advancement, Diplomatic Ball Planning, and Centennial. Through these committees, the SFSAC sponsors several events throughout the academic year, including the Diplomatic Ball, Trick or Treat on Embassy Row, and the Student-Faculty Banquet.

The SFS Graduate Chapter of Net Impact is a platform and resource hub for young leaders seeking opportunities to apply business management principles to their work in the public sector. Originally a network of business students and professionals who desired to add a social sector element to their work, Net Impact has grown into an interdisciplinary network bringing together business, design thinking, and start-up exercises to drive social and environmental change. At SFS, global engagement and social justice are attributes built into our academic DNA. Why not sharpen those skills and insights with business principles that may enhance the future work and change we aim to drive throughout meaningful careers. As the SFS Graduate Net Impact Chapter grows its membership, it wants to offer a trove of resources to students wishing to learn the nuts and bolts of the private sector's role in foreign policy/development, identify the locus of activity around CSR in the greater DC metropolitan area and beyond, and identify networks of forward-thinking leaders who see tremendous value in adding a youthful voice to ongoing processes of social change. The Georgetown University Social Innovation and Public Service (SIPS) Fund is a $1.5 million student-run fund that allocates approximately $60,000 in award money every year to help students and alumni start their own social ventures. The mission of SIPS grows out of the Jesuit tradition of service to others.

Some of the past projects funded by SIPS include funding the Alternative Break Program (ABP), creating a book that offers representation for chronically hospitalized children, and backing a startup which decreased food waste by sustainably creating cold-pressed juices. Through its Summer Scholars program, SIPS has also financed proposals which have done important work such as improving cooking practices in Rwanda by bringing stoves to communities and tracking their usage, introducing a community garden in N.E. DC, and holding a theater workshop in France to help facilitate dialogue between French and refugee people living in Paris. The purpose of The Georgetown Review is to offer a platform for open debate and discussion about important ideas, challenging questions, and other news, serving as an independent outlet for all student and faculty viewpoints on campus, especially conservative and libertarian views, which are traditionally absent or obscured in other campus media outlets. The Women's Center supports and empowers students at Georgetown. Women are the majority of the student body, yet are often marginalized in the classroom and campus experiences. As a result, the Women's Center seeks to center the experience of women and educate the entire campus about gender dynamics that impact campus culture. We seek to create a more equitable campus for a more expansive notion of gender and gender roles. We serve students of all gender identities.

The Women's Center staff and LGBTQ Resource Center (new window)staff collaborate in order to holistically serve students. In particular, we focus on the following areas:

Education and Outreach: We provide trainings and workshops for faculty, staff, and students. We are happy to partner with your organization to help you think through how gender functions in your organization. We offer programs and events in collaboration with student groups, academic units, and other campus partners.

Student Engagement and Leadership Development: We offer programs that help students cultivate and develop their leadership skills and unique strengths. These include lectures, discussions, and retreats. Our student staff (link) are ambassadors of the Women's Center. They lead their peers in conversation and events.

Individual Student Support: Staff it available to talk with students about anything and everything. We can connect you with resources, or help you think through topics like what you want to major in, how things are going with your roommates, whether you want to study abroad, how to navigate conflict with a friend, and all of the other things that come with student life.

Health and Wellness: We work individually with students to help students address challenges and flourish at Georgetown. As a semi-confidential Title IX reporting space (new window), we also help students in crisis situations. A semi-confidential space means that son-identifying information about an incident of sexual assault will be shared with a Title IX Coordinator; you will not be contacted by a Title IX Coordinator. Additionally, we are here to help you navigate the University Bias Reporting system for incidents inside and outside of the classroom. We can connect you with resources on and off-campus.
Community Building: We are stronger when we come together. We seek to not only gather people together, but to build strong relationships marked by justice. Together, we can influence culture on the Hilltop.

Advocacy and Empowerment: We challenge oppressive ideologies and encourage a holistic approach to community building and education.
Alumni Engagement: We cultivate a community of Hoyas supporting Hoyas. In the Women's Center, we can connect you with alumni in roles of professional networking and mentoring.

In-office and Virtual Services: Stop by Leavey 327 or hop on zoom to talk with a staff member about personal topics, navigating campus culture, and academic issues. We also offer free pregnancy tests, period products, and snacks.
