This hands-on workshop will introduce students to kintsugi, an ancient Japanese art that repairs broken ceramics by not only mending the cracks but unapologetically accentuating the beauty of the brokenness as part of the piece’s unique history and identity. It’s a practice that repairs physical breaks and serves as a metaphor for embracing flaws and imperfections.

The workshop is facilitated by Joanne Ke Edelman (G’12, G’23) is a kintsugi artist based in Washington DC. Cohosted by Disability Cultural Center, J-Net, and Campus Ministry.

A ceramic item and tools will be provided. Students, please RSVP so we can prepare materials for you. For accessible routes to McShane Large, please use the Accessible Campus Map. Please contact disabilityculture@georgetown.edu for accessibility requests.
