This contemporary modern dance theatre company was founded over 25 years ago by African American women with an artistic vision and passion to express the African American experience through dance. Our company strives to help dancers from all walks of life to express their experiences through dance.

We, the Black Theatre Ensemble, appreciate the theatrical, performative, and technical talents of artists devoted to portraying and enriching the Black cultural heritage throughout the dramatic arts. The students of Georgetown University recognize the need for exposure to and more appreciation of the Black dramatic cultural heritage. Therefore, it is the intention of the G.U. Black Theatre Ensemble to produce works of Black artists and/or works relating to the experiences of the Black community. Above all, we seek to provide a voice for all communities traditionally underrepresented in the performative arts. Although we offer unique opportunities for minority students, namely students of color, to become involved in theater, we welcome the input, interest, and involvement of the entire Georgetown community.

Georgetown's Department of Performing Arts (DPA) integrates creative and critical inquiry, emphasizing artistic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, socially engaged performance, and the spirit of collaboration. The department is home to the College's undergraduate degree programs in American Musical Culture and Theater & Performance Studies with dozens of performing groups in all aspects of the performing arts (music, theater, dance and film). We administer a wide range of activities—from teaching critical and creative courses to scheduling the use of practice rooms and mentoring participation in student organizations. DPA also sponsors the professional Friday Music concert series in McNeir Hall and hosts a full season of Theater in the state-of-the-art Davis Performing Arts Center.

The Music Program at Georgetown is distinctive for its emphasis on the study of the performing arts as both a creative activity within contemporary society and a cultural manifestation of multiculturalism in the American World. The program offers courses in music history, criticism, theory, recording arts, film, social justice and performance. We specialize in all forms of music associated with American Culture, including: jazz, rock, dance, film, popular musics from around the world, and music stemming from the Western European Tradition. Through this broad range of course offerings and numerous opportunities for community-building music performing activities the Music Program clearly reflects the intellectual, multicultural and international character of the liberal arts as Georgetown.

The Theater & Performance Studies Program at Georgetown has attracted significant attention for its unique curriculum (reflecting the political and international character of Georgetown), its commitment to social justice, its focus on adapting, devising and developing new work, and its cutting-edge student productions. The program encourages interdisciplinary learning about culture, politics and identity through the lens of performance research, community-based performance, play analysis and playwriting, stage direction, cross-cultural ensemble, solo performance, dramaturgy, design and multimedia production, and world theater history.

The Economics Graduate Student Organization was founded in 2014 with the purpose of facilitating the exchange of ideas and academic collaboration among Economics Ph.D. students, and giving a platform through which they can present their when ideas and projects, and get valuable feedback and criticism, in a positive and safe environment.

To this end, the Economics Graduate Student Organization organizes a weekly student seminar during which students present the early stages of their research, which gives them an opportunity to improve their presentation skills and receive feedback, both integral parts of the profession.

The Georgetown Figure Skating Club provides the opportunity for students who are interested in continuing the sport to compete at intercollegiate competitions under the name of Georgetown University. The club promotes figure skating across campus as an artistic and athletic sport which people can both learn and do for fun. We support the goals of everyone who demonstrates interest in figure skating at all levels.

The Georgetown Improv Association is a student-run improvisational troupe of
the Georgetown University community. Its mission is to promote long-form improvisation as an
art form, to develop other areas of comedic performance, and to provide frequent and affordable
performances to the greater Georgetown public. The Troupe aims to uncover humor by finding
truth and in doing so seeks full artistic freedom. The Troupe does not discriminate on the basis
of sex, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

The mission of the Georgetown Sketch Comedy Society is to cultivate a space for young comedians to learn and write comedy together. The Georgetown Sketch Comedy Society is the only comedy-driven space on Georgetown's campus where students are able to write, produce, direct, cast, and act in comedy shows.

From killer mashups to dubstep beatboxing, Superfood has become Georgetown's standard for bold a cappella, and many have taken note. Within the last few years, Superfood has released TWO studio albums, sung for the Georgetown Wall Street Alliance in New York City, sung the national anthem for thousands of basketball fans at the Verizon Center, and even last year helped a man propose to his boyfriend (he said yes!!!). On top of all of that, Superfood is now an award-winning group, having received Best Soloist (Allie Canal), Vocal Percussion (Shom Mazumder and Austin Lee), Best Arrangement (Ryan Sudo) as well as first and second place in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Mid-Atlantic Quarter Final competition!

Of course, Superfood's members are great friends who, through a shared passion for music, love to have a good time. Sit in on a practice, and you'll hear as just as much laughter as you do singing. That's because when it comes down to it, Superfood really is a family… a family that also happens to make amaaaaazing music together.

GU Children's Theater is dedicated to the fulfillment of the following three missions:

• Entertaining and educating DC-Area youth, through performances at area schools, hospitals, and other community venues.
• Helping DC-Area youth to develop self-confidence and an appreciation for the arts through such activities as educational workshops at area schools, hospitals, and other community venues.
• Fostering the development of new plays by Georgetown students through writers workshops, with a particular focus on works for children.

The efforts of GU Children's Theater will always be directed towards the provision of high quality entertainment and education.

The Georgetown University Collective of Creative Individuals (GUCCI) is a group dedicated to the diverse and thriving art community on campus, supporting students in their artistic endeavors by running open mics, hosting concerts, aiding in artist promotion, and forming connections between artists, organizations, and communities.

GUDC, the oldest dance organization on campus, is a pre-professional concert repertory dance company that performs diverse works in classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and tap. Composed of 15-20 members, the Company focuses on commitment to excellence in training through technique classes and performances, as well as helping the Georgetown and greater DC community through their outreach program. The Company also creates original choreography that is showcased in a fall works-in-progress performance and spring full-production performance. The works within each concert are created by student choreographers, the Faculty Artistic Director, and guest artists chosen by the ensemble. The Company is a self-presenting institution, responsible for all aspects of presentation from pre-production, publicity, and administrative work, to the delivery of a final artistic product on the stage. The dancers of the company are at an intermediate/advanced level and meet at least twice a week for a minimum of three hours for technique classes, which all members are required to attend.

The Company's program is performance-oriented; however, we additionally work to attain other long-term goals. We promote dance on campus and expose the student body to various dance styles and trends. We serve the university community by exposing it to the creativity found in dance through interacting via master classes and performance and through exchanging ideas regarding dance with the local community.

Because GUDC receives academic credit, all its programs conform with the academic standards and abide by all policies of the university. The Faculty Artistic Director also conducts all course and related work with the same level of authority as any other academic course.

The Georgetown University Pep Band is an organization of Georgetown students dedicated to supporting Georgetown Athletics & University events through musical performance. Founded in 1922 as both an ROTC (which became the Pep Band) and a Concert Band (which became the Concert Winds and then the Wind Ensemble). Members support the arts by sharing their enjoyment of music with audiences and fans alike at athletic events, official and unofficial university events and functions, and occasionally at non-university, off-campus events.

GU Jawani is Georgetown University's Premier Bhangra Dance Team, made entirely of students. Our fundamental mission is to perform modern and traditional bhangra and spread Punjabi/South Asian culture on campus and in the DC Metro area. GU Jawani competes nationally and performs at some of DC's most prestigious venues and events, including performances at the International Monetary Fund, the Embassy of India, the Embassy of Pakistan, and the Verizon Center. We also perform at various events at Georgetown University such as Hoya Madness, Diaspora, GAAP weekends, and Georgetown day! No matter their background, Jawans love to have fun and spread culture through team performances!

GUerrilla Improv is an improvisational comedy group at Georgetown University. Our mission is to perform and educate Georgetown students about the fundamentals of improv while fostering a larger and more diverse comedy community at Georgetown.

We strive to offer free improv shows 2-3 times per semester and hold weekly Open Practices to provide opportunities for fellow Georgetown students to learn improv and make friends in a low-pressure comedic setting. All are absolutely welcome, regardless of skills, background, or previous improv experience. No auditions, no applications.

Each spring, the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) hosts Hoya Saxa Weekend in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Hoya Saxa Weekend is a chance for underrepresented students of color to experience campus life, meet current students, and have important questions answered before making their college decision. CMEA is excited to bring potential Georgetown students of color to campus in a celebration of what the University has to offer.

Hoya Saxa Weekend is also run in conjunction with the Georgetown Admissions Amabassador Program (GAAP).

The mission of Lombardi Ensemble Association for Patients (LEAP) is to create a therapeutic environment for Lombardi Cancer Center patients, families, and hospital staff through musical performances. Our volunteer organization consists of musicians who strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment for the patients while growing together as students in musical creativity and ability. The organization will select music in collaboration with the Lombardi Cancer Center administration to ensure that the performances are enjoyable for the entire community. Students will have the unique opportunity to expand their individual repertoire by exploring different genres of music, ranging from classical and jazz to modern pop, with their fellow members.

Mask and Bauble (M&B) is dedicated to creating quality theatre through a tradition of student-to-student mentorship. The Multicultural Graduations are part of the official Georgetown University commencement schedule and are a way to bring students of color together for a final ceremony before graduation. Upon attending, each student will be honored with a stole. There are three ceremonies:

Asian Heritage celebrates the achievements of our Asian American and Pacific Islander graduates and allies of the Georgetown University AAPI community. It aims to recognize the achievements of the graduates, and celebrate the cultures and legacies that shaped their journeys here at the Hilltop.

Harambee is an annual ceremony dedicated to recognizing graduating seniors who identify with communities of the African Diaspora. This ceremony collectively celebrates the individual achievements of students in obtaining college diplomas and honors the community and legacy Black graduating students have created and actively cultivated here at Georgetown.

Despedida is an annual ceremony dedicated to celebrating the cultural diversity and history of the Latinx community and Chicanas/Chicanos at Georgetown University. This unique celebration serves to recognize the completion of a rigorous journey through academia and involvement in various organizations at Georgetown.

Purpose
The Georgetown University Performing Arts Advisory Council (PAAC) shall assist the Administrative Director of the Department of Performing Arts (DPA) to counsel and evaluate the overall administration and effectiveness of student performing arts organizations at Georgetown University. The PAAC may recommend policy to the DPA Administrative Director and student leaders. The PAAC shall report its activities to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Duties and Responsibilities
A. To support the growth and development of performing arts student organizations at Georgetown University.

B. To consider application for access to student club and organization benefits to new groups, consistent with the Policy Statement "Georgetown University Student Organizations: Eligibility for Student Club and Organization Benefits."

C. To act as a sounding board for complaints from and about each group, students within the group, the relationship of the group to other groups and departments on and off campus, and provide a forum for resolving such conflicts.

D. To assist in developing standards and guidelines for involving the overall scope and objectives of these performing arts groups at Georgetown University. The PAAC may research acceptable guidelines and encourage their application.

E. Reviewing and approving the budgets.

F. To advise the Vice President of Student Affairs, who has final authority regarding all matters related to student clubs and organizations.

The South Asian Society (SAS) seeks to meet the social, cultural, and educational needs of all Hoyas with an interest in South Asia. SAS proudly celebrates the cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity of South Asia and seeks to raise awareness of South Asian cultures at Georgetown. SAS is committed to building a sense of community among its members and exists to provide a unified voice for South Asian interests on campus. South Asia includes, but is not limited to, the nations of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
