We strive to foster dialogue surrounding the lack of access and availability of healthcare services locally and globally and increase educational and cultural competency among our club members. We will accomplish this by addressing social determinants of health through training of cultural awareness and sensitivity programming on campus, with local service partnerships and experiences abroad.

Relay For Life is an all-inclusive organization whose inherent values promote the general well-being of all those involved. Our primary mission is always to raise donations, awareness, and spirit for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers through the American Cancer Society.

GUOPS aims to provide an artistic outlet to patients and visitors of the Lombardi Cancer Center in conjunction with the Arts and Humanities Department by encouraging creativity and wellness through arts and crafts activities. In achieving this mission, GUOPS hopes to help volunteers develop empathy, communication skills, and an awareness of the responsibility to participate and work in the health sector.

Our mission at SweetStrips is to reduce the disparity of type 2 diabetes in D.C. Currently, diabetes affects over 30 million individuals in the United States and over 60,000 in DC alone. Since 1984 we have seen a 384% increase in diagnosis of diabetes, a large part of this increase has been due to changes in our diets and exercise.

SweetStrips hopes to combat this increase by spreading awareness of proper nutrition and exercise. We believe that healthy practices are best formed and retained from an early age. Utilizing a Center for Disease Control guideline for healthy living and diabetes prevention, we have designed a curriculum that incorporates its essential elements into a fun and interactive series of lessons for children in elementary school. We hope to work with your students and together create a healthier future for DC.

GlobeMed is a network of university students that partners with grassroots organizations around the world to improve the health of people living in poverty. GlobeMed has chapters at many universities throughout the United States. GlobeMed at Georgetown has partnered with Primeros Pasos, a clinic in rural Guatemala that serves the local community, for over 10 years. We have weekly meetings to discuss global health issues and fundraise for the clinic throughout the year. In today's pandemic, the inequities in health are evident and we are focused on educating ourselves and advocating for the right to healthcare. Everyone is welcome to join GlobeMed at Georgetown. "Our mission is to empower, prepare, and better equip the community to deal with any situation in which Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Automated External Defibrillator (AED) skills are required." Heroes for Hearts aims to increase the rate of bystander CPR performed by an individual at the scene of a heart attack or stroke, in an effort to save lives. Our motto is, "20 minutes. Let's Save a Life." Taking just 20 minutes out of a single day can provide an individual with the skills, training, and knowledge to potentially save someone's life.

Our mission as a chapter on the Georgetown campus is to improve and celebrate menstrual hygiene through advocacy and service. Through advocacy, our mission is to promote menstrual hygiene as a right, and to challenge the stigma surrounding the topic of periods. In addition, we hope to educate and spread awareness about issues surrounding feminine hygiene through conversations and campaigns. Lastly, through service, our mission is to distribute menstrual hygiene products to women and girls in need in the DC area. Our goal is to enact change and pursue programs that make a difference in these three areas.

Slow Food aims to broaden the Georgetown student body's awareness of the importance of universal access to food that is good, clean, and fair. To us, good food is made with love and the intent to build community and bring sustenance; clean food is produced with respect for the environment and the health of those who consume it; and fair food is recognized as the result of the labor of many who deserve just compensation and equal access to food themselves, and recognizing and standing up to the violence that often accompanies food production. We seek to create a space on campus for students to come together to cultivate a better food system on campus and beyond.

Slow Food Georgetown acknowledges the vast inequities built into our food systems, and we seek to change that by 1) educating students about their food; 2) working on and off campus to reduce these inequities; and 3) empowering students to change the food system. As an official Slow Food USA chapter, we work within their Manifesto for Equity, Inclusion and Justice.

Our mission is to organize accessible swim instruction specifically designed for children with special needs in the greater DC community. The swim lessons aim to prevent accidental drowning, which is among the leading causes of death for children with intellectual disabilities. In addition to promoting water safety, SNUGS at Georgetown will create an inclusive social environment for the children and allow them to build meaningful relationships.

Our greater objectives are to cultivate awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and to mitigate them through engagement and education in order to advance social justice.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

St. Elizabeths Outreach is a club which connects Georgetown students interested in mental health and social justice with volunteer opportunities at St Elizabeths Hospital. The organization hosts weekly visits to the hospital, where volunteers play board games and chat with the individuals in care. Central to the club's mission is a commitment to mental health advocacy and a commitment to the intersection of social justice and healthcare.
