The After School Kids (ASK) Program serves at-potential teens in the DC metropolitan area who are making positive strides in their lives and to be catalysts for change in their community. Our youth are adversely impacted by the cradle-to-prison pipeline and may experience obstacles to obtaining their high school diploma, exploring careers, or advancing their postsecondary education. It is not uncommon for our youth to experience chronic trauma exposure, involvement in the court system, and to be over-aged and under-credited. Despite obstacles, our youth envision a brighter future through education, social action, and wellness. ASK provides programming and support to help them realize their vision.

The Georgetown College Academic Council is comprised of elected representatives from each class who foster a working relationship between administration, students, and faculty in order to help students manage and enhance their academic lives. The Council interacts with College faculty and administration regarding a wide variety of issues. The College Academic Council represents the students of Georgetown College, seeks their opinion on academic issues, and acts in their name. It has helped to develop stronger student-professor relations through the Majors Mentors Network, Dean-Student lunches, the annual College Honors, and the College Majors Fair. DC Schools Project (DCSP) is a tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy program that engages Georgetown students as volunteer and Federal Work Study (FWS)-funded tutors to provide English language tutoring and support for youth and adults of immigrant backgrounds in Washington, DC. The program was established in 1984 in response to the quadrupling of the language minority population in the DC public schools, as a result of the drastic increase in the immigrant population due to the civil war in El Salvador. The program seeks to improve the literacy skills and academic performance to ultimately increase the ability of the youth and adults to fully participate in the cultural, civic, educational, and economic life in US society. Fifteen student coordinators lead DCSP through which approximately 150 Georgetown students a semester have weekly commitments to one of its seven programs.

Georgetown's Department of Performing Arts (DPA) integrates creative and critical inquiry, emphasizing artistic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, socially engaged performance, and the spirit of collaboration. The department is home to the College's undergraduate degree programs in American Musical Culture and Theater & Performance Studies with dozens of performing groups in all aspects of the performing arts (music, theater, dance and film). We administer a wide range of activities—from teaching critical and creative courses to scheduling the use of practice rooms and mentoring participation in student organizations. DPA also sponsors the professional Friday Music concert series in McNeir Hall and hosts a full season of Theater in the state-of-the-art Davis Performing Arts Center.

The Music Program at Georgetown is distinctive for its emphasis on the study of the performing arts as both a creative activity within contemporary society and a cultural manifestation of multiculturalism in the American World. The program offers courses in music history, criticism, theory, recording arts, film, social justice and performance. We specialize in all forms of music associated with American Culture, including: jazz, rock, dance, film, popular musics from around the world, and music stemming from the Western European Tradition. Through this broad range of course offerings and numerous opportunities for community-building music performing activities the Music Program clearly reflects the intellectual, multicultural and international character of the liberal arts as Georgetown.

The Theater & Performance Studies Program at Georgetown has attracted significant attention for its unique curriculum (reflecting the political and international character of Georgetown), its commitment to social justice, its focus on adapting, devising and developing new work, and its cutting-edge student productions. The program encourages interdisciplinary learning about culture, politics and identity through the lens of performance research, community-based performance, play analysis and playwriting, stage direction, cross-cultural ensemble, solo performance, dramaturgy, design and multimedia production, and world theater history.

First-Year Orientation to Community Involvement (FOCI) is an intensive pre-orientation program for incoming first-year and transfer students. FOCI serves as an introduction to community service, activism, and social justice issues in Washington, DC. Each year, the American Moot Court Association (AMCA) releases a hypothetical case that deals with one or more constitutional issues. The Georgetown University Student Investment Fund (GUSIF) was founded in 1997 by undergraduate students in the McDonough School of Business. GUSIF currently manages over $750,000 and is in the process of receiving new funds that will increase assets under management to over $1,000,000.The Fund currently manages money for the Endowment, Alumni Association and the SIPS Fund. GUSIF's purpose is two-fold: (I) fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities by achieving above-market returns and (II) educate its membership through training and real-world experience. GUSIF develops top undergraduate talent; GUSIF alumni have gone on to work in a variety of fields from investment banking to consulting at firms such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and McKinsey & Company. The GUSIF investment philosophy incorporates a number of disciplines and styles. Among the nation's leading undergraduate law journals, Georgetown University Undergraduate Law Review analyzes the most consequential issues in law, policy, philosophy, history, and politics. GUULR is dedicated to providing a visible forum for legal debate, discussion, and reflection. In providing a platform for authors to explore and articulate their innovative legal thoughts and ideas, we hope to promote a more nuanced understanding of prevalent questions and concerns about our legal institutions.

GUULR is entirely student-run. The year-long process commences with an extensive search for the most notable works from students at the nation's finest universities, as well as from judges, professors, and legal practitioners. Every GUULR article then endures a rigorous editing and revision process in order to ensure that it reaches its full potential and strength before publishing. Furthermore, undergraduate students are given the unique opportunity to engage in every stage of the publishing process, from conducting thorough legal research and investigating, to writing and re-writing drafts, to polishing Bluebook citations. GUULR strives for excellence, both in our final product, and in shaping more capable and experienced writers.

The GSPSO is an organization open to all graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, Georgetown University. It was founded in 2000 with the aim of creating a forum for discussion of issues of common interest among graduate students, as well as organize workshops and events that benefit graduate students.

The GSPSO holds periodic meetings in which important matters are undertaken concerning students' funding and responsibilities as well as changes to the graduate guidelines and academic progress requirements. Both the Department's Chair and the Directors of Graduate Studies have expressed their desire to give graduate students an active role in the Department and to improve communication with them. In order to facilitate this interaction, periodic meetings with the students' representatives have been established as well as informational meetings for all graduate students. We hope to continue extending this dialog over the next year.

We offer tutoring every week, five days a week, and each tutor signs up for at least one one-hour shift that recurs weekly. Our large tutoring sessions occur twice a week from 3:30-4:30, and we also provide tutoring throughout the school day. Tutors work one-on-one with struggling students to help them complete their homework and learn basic skills. We do not create lesson plans of our own, but instead supplement and clarify the information they are already learning from their teachers. As these are some of the few remaining years that students have left before 9th grade, we see it as a crucial period in which students have a chance to catch up and get back on track before high school.

Each spring, the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) hosts Hoya Saxa Weekend in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Hoya Saxa Weekend is a chance for underrepresented students of color to experience campus life, meet current students, and have important questions answered before making their college decision. CMEA is excited to bring potential Georgetown students of color to campus in a celebration of what the University has to offer.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that works with underserved preschool children in schools and community centers. Jumpstart Corps Members (CMs) implement enrichment programming aimed at building the language, literacy, and socio-emotional skills that preschool children need to be ready for kindergarten. Together, Georgetown University's Office of Government Relations and Community Engagement (GRACE), Office of Student Employment, and Center for Social Justice announce a pilot program through which Federal Work Study (FWS)-eligible Georgetown University undergraduate students can intern with DC-based community organizations whose leaders have been recognized by the University's annual John Thompson, Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award.

When supporting a Legacy of a Dream (LoaD) Awardee Organization, LoaD Interns use their skills, time, energy, and capacities to support organization as needed and requested. While actual duties vary with each agency placement, the goal is for each Hoya to contribute to the agency's capacity with their contributions, support, and learning. LoaD interns are expected to be excellent representatives to Georgetown's commitment to social justice and follow all Student Conduct policies, both on and off campus. The SFSAC is the elected representative organization of the SFS undergraduate population. As advocates for the SFS student body, the SFSAC collaborates with the Dean's Office, the Georgetown University Student Association, and the other academic councils to address issues pertaining to academic affairs, the student body in the SFS, and other initiatives developed to enhance the undergraduate experience. Additionally, the SFSAC enjoys membership on the SFS Curriculum Committee and the Georgetown University Inter-School Academic Council.

The committees of the SFSAC include Special Events, Communications, Advancement, Diplomatic Ball Planning, and Centennial. Through these committees, the SFSAC sponsors several events throughout the academic year, including the Diplomatic Ball, Trick or Treat on Embassy Row, and the Student-Faculty Banquet.

CSJ Student Academic Assistants (SAAs) support social justice, community-engaged, and community-based learning courses, research, and scholarly initiatives taught and led by CSJ-affiliated faculty.
When supporting a course, SAAs complete organizational and logistical tasks to support the course professor, students, and community partners, including but not limited to: entering and organizing course data, sending email and text reminders to students, and professionally communicating with community partners via phone and email. SAAs may also support the academic and reflective components of the course. SAAs are invited to sit-in on at least one class session a week, and can count this time toward their hours.
When supporting faculty research and/or scholarly project, SAAs may complete a range of activities, tasks, and responsibilities depending on the context of the project.

The Community Scholars Program (CSP) has led Georgetown's efforts to promote social justice for 50 years by enrolling a more racially and socioeconomically diverse student body. Managed by the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA), the program provides enhanced educational opportunities for a multicultural cohort of first-generation college students who have achieved the dream of higher education through personal initiative, service, and academic excellence.

The Community Scholars experience begins with a five-week academic summer program prior to the student's first year at Georgetown designed to aid their transition to higher education. During the summer they take classes for credit, attend orientation workshops, and begin forming bonds with one another, teachers, and administrators that will help sustain them through college. The program supports its students throughout their Georgetown careers with academic advising, mentoring and personal counseling, study groups, workshops, and seminars.
